Requirements

Royal Manor Arts College Uniform 2010/11
The College uniform has been agreed after consultation with students, parents, teachers and governors. It is our desire that our uniform reflects the high standards expected of our students in all aspects of life at Royal Manor. To this end, the College will rigorously enforce the uniform policy and would ask for the co operation of parents and students in maintaining the expected high standards of personal presentation.
College Blazer |
Plain Black, with College badge. To be worn at all times, unless a member of staff gives specific permission to remove it. Blazers may be bought elsewhere and stitch-on badges with the College logo can be bought from the National Schoolwear Centre.

Black
Trousers /
Skirts |
Full length plain black, wool/synthetic woven fabric (not cotton, denim or corduroy). For purposes of safety the trousers must not cover the shoe and be a sensible straight cut style.
Skirts must be plain black, knee length and suitable for an educational environment.

White Shirt |
Plain white shirt, traditional school shirt style, buttoned to the neck, worn with school tie and able to be tucked into trousers at all times. Shirts can be long or short sleeved but must not be Sports or Polo–shirt. Blouses are not suitable as they cannot be tucked in or worn with a tie. |
Plain Black
‘V’ neck jumper |
In the winter months students are allowed to wear a plain black V neck jumper (not a cardigan) under their blazer – but not in place of the blazer! |
Shoes |
Plain black, sensible in style and low heeled. We do not allow canvas shoes, open toes, sandals, sling backs, slipper-like shoes, platforms, mules, boots or training shoes or any shoe looking like a trainer. |
Socks / Tights |
Plain black or grey, no bright colours. Tights are to be black or natural colour. |
Coats
|
A waterproof coat can be worn to College but must be removed on entering the building. Hooded tops, tracksuit tops, sweatshirts and jumpers are not allowed to be worn on the College site. The College has a specific waterproof coat ideal for College and PE. |
Make up / Hair
|
Only students in Years 10 and 11 are allowed to wear make-up and it must be discreet. Hair should be in a sensible style and a natural colour. Tramlines or shorter than No.3 cut is NOT permitted. |
Jewellery
|
No jewellery may be worn to College except for one pair of plain ear studs in pierced ears (only one in each ear). If other jewellery is worn, it may be confiscated. The College takes no responsibility for the loss of any jewellery. |
Body Piercing |
The wearing of body adornments other than plain studs in pierced ears is unacceptable. Students will have to remove such adornments if they are to attend the College. Covering them is not acceptable. |
Mobile Phones
|
We do not allow mobile phones to be used at College as we need to protect students from possible text or internet harassment and unwelcome photography. If we discover a student with their phone turned on it will be confiscated and you the parent/carer will be expected to collect it.
However, if it is kept turned off and in a bag we will never know it exists! |
Other Items |
Items of value should not be brought to College (such as MP3 players, Ipods etc). The College takes no responsibility for loss of any such personal items. |
Physical Education and Dance
The kit outlined below is compulsory for students taking part in PE and Dance.
- Yellow College Polo Shirt with Logo
- Black College sweatshirt with logo
- Black Shorts
- Black Tracksuit bottoms (as plain as possible)
- White sports socks
- Black Football/Hockey socks
- Training shoes (laces must be able to be done up to secure shoe to foot)
- Football Boots
- Gum Shield
- Shin Pads
- Bag to carry it all
Optional:
Towel, Dance Shoes, change of underwear and socks
Dance is performed bare foot but Jazz trainers or Jazz split sole can also be worn, but should not be purchased specially.
Long hair must be tied back, medium hair secured with a soft Alice band (this includes both boys and girls). No jewellery, including watches, may be worn at any time in PE or Dance.
Please label all articles of kit clearly and permanently with your child’s name.
Equipment for Learning
Every student is expected to provide the following basic items of equipment for every lesson.

Calculator English dictionary/thesaurus (pocket size)
Student Planner (we provide) Foreign Language dictionary.
Tippex / liquid paper is not allowed in College.
We will issue students with text books, exercise books, folders and a student planner. We expect these to be looked after and not damaged.
